Turkey are working on a program of bilateral cooperation in the construction industry for 2019-2024. The program became the main topic of the meeting between Russian Construction Minister Vladimir Yakushev and Turkish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mehmet Samsar, which took place at the Russian Ministry of Construction on March 6.
The parties plan to agree on the draft program in the near future. According to Vladimir Yakushev, the document should be ready for signing at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 6-8, 2019.
“The presence of Turkish companies in the Russian construction market makes a positive contribution to the competitive development of this sector of the economy, which currently facing major challenges. Our ministry is working on the implementation of a national project in the field of housing and the urban environment, according to which it is necessary to provide affordable housing for families with an average income and increase the volume of housing construction to 120 million square meters per year,” said the head of the Russian Ministry of Construction.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey proposed to hold joint expert consultations for a more detailed and in-depth study of the memorandum. The head of the Russian Ministry of Construction expressed his readiness for such work. “We are interested both in the exchange of experience, which can be applied in Russia, and in attracting Turkish companies to the Russian market,” the minister stressed.
