Dubai, construction has begun on the new Burj Jumeira tower, a 550-meter skyscraper divided into two parts, which will rise from the lake in the form of an imprint finger of the ruler of the Emirate.
The first stage of construction work began on January 31, 2019 and should be completed in 2023. The projected skyscraper has already been called “the new icon of Dubai skyscrapers”.
Dubai is recognized as the world leader in terms of construction projects. Last year, 13 skyscrapers were completed in the UAE. Many of the projects are unique. For example, one of the skyscrapers being built will follow the shape of the iPod.
Burj Jumeira will be located near the city's waterfront, opposite Sheikh Zayed Road, and will be the centerpiece of the new Jumeira area. The oval base of the tower, modeled after the fingerprint of Mohammed ibn Rashid Al Maktoum, will be the heart of the project. The Mirror Pond will be surrounded by shops, fountains and a terraced outdoor amphitheatre. The tower will rise from one end of the lake and will consist of two connected curved ovals that are modeled after desert topography and lined with digital displays. The complex will be used for "social, cultural and artistic events and meetings."
