New home sales up 15% in January

According to Rosreestr, in January 2021, 49,000 equity participation agreements (DDUs) were registered in Russia. This is 15 percent more than in January last year, but about half as much as in December.

The number of registered mortgage loans on purchase of apartments in January 2021 increased by 12 percent - up to 204 thousand. A month earlier, in December 2020, 441,000 mortgages were registered. January indicators compared to the previous December, as a rule, differ by 2-3 times. The fact is that the greatest peak of activity in the real estate sector occurs at the end of the year, and in January, due to the New Year holidays, a decline is traditionally observed.

Also, according to Rosreestr, secondary housing market 183 thousand transactions were recorded in January. The same number of transactions was at the beginning of 2020.
