Thailand extends free visas for another 6 months

The Thai authorities have decided to extend the free issuance of visas for another six months. The deadline was to expire on October 30, 2019. The new date is April 30, 2020.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon said that the country does not plan to completely abolish visas due to security concerns. This is especially true for citizens of China and India.

Today, citizens of 18 countries can obtain a visa on arrival in Thailand: Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu. Citizens of other countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Latvia and Lithuania, were also included in this list before, but now they are entitled to visa-free travel for 30 days.
