In 2018, residents of St. Petersburg took
mortgage loans for a record 200.3 billion rubles. This is 1.6 times more than in 2017.
In addition, last year a record was set for the number of loans issued: 73.7 thousand
mortgage loans against 51.8 thousand a year earlier. At the same time, the average amount of a ruble
mortgage loan amounted to 2.7 million rubles (2.5 million in 2017).
At the end of 2018, the weighted average rate in St. Petersburg amounted to 9.6 percent per annum. For comparison, in 2017 it was 10.67 percent.
The debt of St. Petersburg residents to banks on
mortgage housing loans as of January 1 of this year increased by 1.3 times compared to the data at the beginning last year and amounted to 379.2 billion rubles. At the same time, the share of foreign currency loans decreased by 1.4 times, to 3.2 billion rubles. Accordingly, the share of rubles increased 1.3 times, to 376 billion.
