The popularity of mortgages in St. Petersburg grew by 6 percent

According to a RIA Novosti study, St. Petersburg ranks 17th in Russia in terms of popularity of mortgages.

The number of mortgage loans per 1,000 economically active population of St. Petersburg over the past year amounted to 23.6. Relative to the first half of last year, this figure increased by 6 percent. The average size of mortgages in St. Petersburg is 2.9 million rubles.

More active than other Russians for loans to buying an apartment appeals to the population of the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrugs and the Tyumen Region. In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, on average, about 32 people out of a thousand annually buy an apartment on a mortgage. This is 1.7 times more than the national average.
