Dubai has completed the construction of the world's largest 3D-object, which is a two-story office.
The building was built by the robotic construction company Apis Cor using the 3D printing method. The base was built from a material developed on the basis of gypsum. The printing took place outdoors to prove that the technology could handle harsh environments without humidity and temperature control.
The Apis Cor 3D printer was moved around the site with a crane and used to produce various parts of the building. The structure has a conventional foundation, and the 3D printed formwork for the columns has been reinforced with concrete and rebar. Pre-cast slabs were used for the floors, while conventional windows and roofs were added by the contractor after the walls were printed.
