Квартиры в России за 20 лет подорожали в десять раз

Apartments in Russia for 20 years have risen in price ten times

Prices for apartments in Russia have increased tenfold in ruble terms since 2000. Such data is provided by the CIAN service.

If 20 years ago, on average in the country buying an apartment in a new building it was possible at the rate of 8.7 thousand rubles per square meter, now - 86.1 thousand. On the secondary market, a “square” costs 69.3 thousand, and in 2000 it was possible to buy 6.6 thousand.

It is worth noting that despite a significant increase in nominal prices, taking into account inflation, the real increase in the cost of housing in Russia did not exceed 25 percent. At the same time, in some regions of the country, apartments have really grown in price. For example, apartments in the Leningrad region in real terms by 2.2 times, apartments in St. Petersburg - by 75 percent, apartments in Moscow - by 68 percent.

Just like 20 years ago, the capital is still a leader in the cost of residential real estate. In 2000, an apartment in Moscow could be bought at the rate of 15.4 thousand rubles per sq.m., now - 230 thousand. St. Petersburg remains in second place, third place went from the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug to the Sakhalin Region.

At the same time, housing in Russia has become much more affordable, taking into account such an indicator as how much time a person needs to save up for an apartment. The average salary in the region is taken, the cost of living is subtracted, and it is established how long a person can buy an apartment. 20 years ago this figure was 13 years, now it is 6.5.
