Russian banks issued 86 thousand
mortgage loans in January 2021, thus increasing the issuance of
mortgages by 11 percent compared to the same period last year. Such a number of loans for
purchase of an apartment is a record for the first month of the year. Such data are provided by the United Credit Bureau (OKB).
Among the 30 regions of Russia that are leaders in the number of issued
mortgage loans, the best dynamics was recorded in the Tyumen region (+26 percent compared to January 2020), the Krasnodar Territory (+25), Orenburg region and the Udmurt Republic (+24 each) and Yugra (+22). The smallest dynamics - in the Kirov, Samara and Nizhny Novgorod regions (+3 percent each), Omsk region and Bashkortostan (+2 each) and Perm region (+1). In Moscow in January, banks issued
mortgages by 16 percent more than a year ago, in St. Petersburg - by 7 percent.
2020 was a record year for
mortgage lending, despite the coronavirus pandemic. Thanks to the reduction of the key rate by the Bank of Russia and the extension of the program
preferential mortgage, the total cost of a loan decreased from 10.3% per annum to 8% per year on average. .7.
